Sitting in the hospital waiting room can be incredibly stressful. People await treatment, either for themselves or loved ones, surrounded by others at various stages of their own treatment or recovery process. This experience can be anxiety-inducing, tedious, and painful. Certainly this is neither the intention nor the desire of the doctors and therapists at Mount Sinai’s Dubin Breast Center, however in many instances it has become somewhat unavoidable.

Since 2011 the Dubin Breast Center, with the help of Jennifer Ashton and a team of highly skilled therapists, has implemented an unorthodox approach to a traditional hospital visit.  Through massage, support, guided meditation and breathing exercises they have aimed to put their patients in the right state prior to, and throughout their visits.

In this video, join Sonima’s founder, Sonia Jones, and Jennifer Ashton as they discuss the important role massage therapy plays in maintaining the well-being of patients.
