Jois says that yoga helps calm “monkey mind,” or our brain’s tendency to jump from thought to thought like a monkey swinging between branches. He says calming yoga brings a “oneness” between body and mind that helps quiet our thoughts and opens up the pathway to a seated meditation practice.
