Often anxiety arises when we don’t feel like we’re able to accomplish what we need to accomplish. We can’t do what we think we want to do. In Buddhism there’s a notion that we are naturally awake. Things like anxiety and stress may come and go but underneath these layers of confusion we are basically good, capable, and strong. More often than not we don’t choose to believe in our basic goodness; we choose to believe that we are messed up, that we’re not good enough, not capable enough to actually do what we need to do, and we cause ourselves pain, stress, and anxiety. In this meditation, take a few minutes to quiet the mind and cultivate the confidence to overcome what’s making you anxious.
