Chrissy Carter is a yoga educator, meditation teacher, writer, and lifestylist based in New York City. Chrissy discovered yoga while working as a trader on Wall Street and found that the practice not only helped her manage the stress of her job, but also the anxiety of feeling like she wasn’t where she was supposed to be. Inspired to share the practice with others, she pursued teaching after work and on the weekends until she gained the courage to leave Wall Street in 2004 to devote her life to yoga.
As a senior teacher and teacher trainer at YogaWorks in New York, Chrissy has led a combined thirty-five 200hr and 300hr teacher trainings. Chrissy is known for her ability to make complex asana mechanics, musculoskeletal anatomy, and nuanced philosophy accessible to beginners and teachers alike. She tempers clear, no-nonsense teaching with space, light-heartedness and a lot of humor.
Chrissy shares the art of mindful living on her website, where she weaves yoga philosophy into cooking, design, and everyday life. Chrissy has appeared in numerous publications including The New York Times, Yoga Journal, Live Happy, Shape, and Health Magazine. She has starred in two Gaiam yoga DVDs, and is a featured teacher on Meditation Studio App and Gaia.com.
