Phakchok Rinpoche was born in 1981 and recognized as a reincarnate Tibetan Buddhist teacher at a young age. A learned scholar, Rinpoche was awarded the Khenpo title (similar to a PhD in Buddhist philosophy) at Dzongsar Institute of Advanced Buddhist Studies in India. As a married yogi, Rinpoche is uniquely capable of drawing upon his own experiences as a householder to relate the profundity of the Buddha’s teaching to every day life. His approach is one of balance: a student should study and contemplate in order to understand the profound views of the Buddha’s teachings, and then practice in a way that genuinely reduces ego clinging and negative emotions. He believes that practitioners must extend altruistic activity to those in one’s community and beyond as an expression of the compassion and wisdom cultivated in practice. Over the last decade, Phakchok Rinpoche has traveled five continents sharing the wisdom of the Buddha.
