The most common retort to the question of whether or not someone practices yoga is, “I can’t do yoga, I’m not flexible.” Yoga teachers and practitioners around the world instantly respond, “It’s not about flexibility!” But with images of bendy yogis increasingly public, it’s hard for a new practitioner to feel welcome in the yoga space. This simple sequence, led by New York City-based yoga teacher, Jai Sugrim, offers basic yoga postures with modifications and alignment cues that are accessible for yogis of all levels of flexibility. When practiced with intention and consistency, these postures will become easier and easier over time.
