Kiki Attonito obtained her Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University in New York City in 2001, with focus on substance related and anxiety spectrum disorders. Her undergraduate studies were at Princeton University in English Literature, apt preparation for her research and writing graduate work in the psychology field.
The clinical aspect of Kiki's studies commenced in 2001, where she completed an externship at the New York State Psychiatric Institute and began work as a counselor in the mental health and substance abuse field. Since, Kiki has worked in outpatient and inpatient settings with a broad spectrum of consumers, in the capacities of Therapist, Director of Intake Services, Director of Social Services, and Wellness Counselor.
In 2005, Kiki supplemented her clinical practice with a focus on health and wellness, graduating from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition with certification as a Holistic Health Counselor. After relocating from New York to Florida in 2006, Kiki was certified as a Wellness Coach by the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. An avid practitioner of yoga and meditation, Kiki became a Registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance in 2011 and has enjoyed the ability to bring information on nutrition, self-care, spirituality, and physical balance to her work with clients in substance abuse and mental health via this holistic education.
Kiki holds a Certified Addictions Professional degree which is recognized in Florida state and internationally. Her workshop "Recovering with Yoga" has been hosted by yoga studios and therapeutic centers throughout Miami, showcasing her unique blend of Hazelden-inspired twelve step curriculum with traditional Eastern yoga philosophy. Her career passion lies in the blend of spiritual approaches to health and wellbeing with hands-on, practical methods of treating and preventing substance use and abuse.
