Harmony Slater began practicing yoga in 1995, leaving behind a career as a ballet dancer and putting the pieces back together from a life-threatening eating disorder. In 2002, she traveled to China to study Buddhist meditation, and in 2004, she began an epic period of travel, spending well over three years studying and living in India over the following fifteen years. She first received an official Authorization to teach Ashtanga Yoga in 2006, directly from Sri. K Pattabhi Jois, and nine years later received an Advanced Certification from the KPJ Ashtanga Yoga Institute in Mysore, India. She is one of less than 20 women in the world to hold this honor.

Harmony is a strong presence in the Ashtanga community worldwide having founded two Yoga Schools in Canada and has shared her experiences with the practice, pregnancy and childbirth in the books: ‘Yoga Sadhana for Mothers’ and ‘Strength and Grace: A collection of Essays by Women of Ashtanga Yoga’.
