Who are you? This simply stated yet complex question is the foundation for the inspirational Live Sonima Tour, a nationwide music and motivational speaking tour aimed at high school students and headlined by Caroline Jones and Stedman Graham.
Discovering who you are at any age is a challenge, but for today’s teens, cutting through the noise of everyday life is a difficult yet invaluable skill. Without it, students miss the opportunity to truly curate their identity and love themselves.
Stedman Graham addresses these skills head on during the Live Sonima Tour, asking students to come up on stage and plainly answer, “Who are you?” for the audience. While many list “football player, cheerleader, best friend, book lover” amongst their assets, Graham encourages them to dig deeper, discovering their true life purpose and identity through loving themselves for who they are.
Caroline Jones continues this important message of love and purpose through heartfelt and joyful words and music. At a recent San Diego performance of the Live Sonima Tour, Jones received a personal message from one of the students that read, “You told me something that no one ever told me; you said ‘Follow your dreams and your heart,’ I never do that. I love your music…THANK YOU.”
These wonderful, honest words remind us of why we have created this unique program. Regardless of whether they’re from prestigious or under-priviliged homes, the students filling the seats of the Live Sonima Tour performances face complex challenges, whether it be from the most prestigious or under-privileged home, presented by a digital age that creates both opportunity and interference with development and confidence. The Live Sonima Tour looks to break through this distraction, helping students to not only realize their potential as future leaders, but to aim high to achieve their dreams and goals, as these are truly the pillars of self-discovery.
The earnest music and inspirational words of the Live Sonima Tour continue across the country as we look to achieve a goal of reaching as many staff, students and community members as possible with our message of motivation and mindful inspiration. So far, we are proud to count over 8,000 students at 15 schools in attendance during the California performances of the Live Sonima Tour, as well as an exciting guest appearance by Raiders football star, Justin Tuck, who brought his important message of literacy to Bay Area students.
