Our joints and muscles tend to tighten up as winter air gets colder. Sometimes we need to move slowly to release the stiffness brought on by the Arctic breeze. The following sequence is a simple way to warm the body from the inside out. Fire up the core by using the breath and the legs to get the warmth flowing. The sequence begins with breath of fire—fast, sharp inhales and exhales out of the nose—and ends with a seated spinal twist to massage the internal flame. Go through the whole sequence on one side and then repeat to the other. Hold each posture for five full breaths. If you’d like to start this sequence with a more general warm-up, try the 10-minute yoga sequence with Sharath Jois, and add in these fun poses before the finishing postures.
