Yoga teaches us that the mind and body are intertwined. Emotions, such as fear, can have deep visceral effects in the body. In the following sequence designed by Mary Dana Abbott, a yoga instructor and co-creative director at Laughing Lotus in New York City. You’ll use the body in a friendly and loving way to develop tools to confront obstacles in life. Through these strengthening postures, you’ll find the courage and the internal fire to quell your fears off the mat. Be soft and gentle with yourself, go slowly, and listen to the body. If you have fear built up against arm balances or other postures, move as close as you can to the full expression of the poses. This sequence will help you find the strength to surpass anything that might be holding you back.
