Meditation is a word that is often thrown around without context, or with context but without definition. Here, Deepak Chopra, M.D., explains his definition of meditation, rooted in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Meditation, he says, is a mental form of yoga, wherein we silence our thought process and arrive at the source of thought. In other words, we dismantle notions of the self and arrive at a higher being. Meditation is a process of calming the mind and an affirmation of the individual relationship to the universal.
